If it costs x dollors for making certain item if quantity is

quantity increase then the item is made using y dollars. If
z number of
items are made which are greater than 1000 then what is the
total cost.

simple. z is a number > 1000. for each unit after 1000 units, it costs y$ to make. so Fixed cost is 1000x. each unit thereafter is variable cost at (z-1000)y. Fixed cost + variable cost = TC. rearrange and you get the answer.

So IIT mumbai and Anil both of you right.
1000*X+(Z-1000)Y or 1000(x-y)+yz are same .
but how plzz can any one prove this ...we all got the answer
