Severity: How much serious the defect is will be defined in terms of severity.
Priority:Priority describes the sequence in which the defects has to be rectified.
Severity is defined by the tester.
Priority will be decided by the development team not based on the severity but based on situation.

If you found that there is major crash in the functionality of the application but the crash lies in the module which is not delivered in the deliverables in this case the priority is low and severity is high.
