A modem is that which convert digital signatal to analog
and vise versa and technicaly this is calles modulater and
demodulater.
so moedm is working or not for this 127.0.0.1 is not a
option.
the ip series which is starting from 127.x.x.x is kept for
loop back addrees and this ip is used for cheking the your
nic(network interface card) card staus cheking.
so as far mine knowledge is consern this in not used for
cheking the status of any modem
thank you

guys relax :
ping 127.0.0.1 is a loop back address. nither it checks modem
nor does it checks physical NIC card . it checks the IP
stack of the comp weather the ip STAck of the comp is
working fine.
eg :
when i ping 127.0.0.1 it checks the ip stack . it means tht
my windows is ok . 2) when i ping my ip address then it
means tht my nic is good if i gives replays. when i ping
gateway (router) and it gives replays it means communication
is happening with router...

on computer. it is not for modem or nic. Disable Nic card

Hi,
127.0.0.1 is a loopback address. If the ping request for
127.0.0.1 is successful then it actually means Lan Card is
working properly. If you remove lan card and ping 127.0.0.1
then there will be no response. You can check for your
