Link may be down for variety of reasons
1. Check if network cable is inserted properly
2. Check the link parameters of interface matches with
corresponding switch interface
#dladm show-link
#dladm show-dev
3. Check prtdiag and syslog for nic failed errors
4. Once it is ascertained that nic has really gone bad, you
need to replace it.
