Sales tax is retail only. Value-Added tax is a tax at every
step of the inventory process, like you are taxed at every
step from manufacturer to distributor to warehouser to
retailer to customer.

Sales Tax is a Tax which is paid on Sales as one stage only
but in VAT (Value Added Tax) mean the tax will be collected
on every sales of the goods. like - first by manufacturer,
then from wholesaler and then retailer.
but the maximum and total tax will be paid on goods = retail
price X Tax Rate

Sales tax is a tax collected depend upon by its(M.R.P) but while in vat tax no relation with (M.R.P) fixed tax rate will be collected on whole purchasing and selling items but vat tax has collected by state govt and sales tax will be collected by central govt
