What is the diffeence between assay and uniformity of content

assay means the total amount of API present in that tablet.
as per usp 97 to 103, as per IP 95 TO 100.

formula: area of sapmle/area of standard* wt of sample/x *
y/ wt of stanadrd * purity/100 * a.wt/l.c *100.


uniformity of content means in that we have taken 10
samples at a time we check the API in that sample wether it
is uniform or not.

formula: area of sapmle/area of standard* wt of sample/x *
y/ wt of stanadrd * l.c/100.
