Why caffeine as a reference standard used for calibration
of HPLC?

Answer Posted / srinivasarao yemineni

1. Maxima at 205 nm
2. Minima at 245 nm
3. Maxima at 273 nm

Since it is a universal known standard.
It is stable and easily available in the market.

But here comes the question how about the calibration of
wavelength accuracy at Visible range. In this case we can
use Erbium Perchlorate which will scan the whole range(200
nm to 600 nm).

It is stable and little costly but availability in the
market when compared to caffeine is litte tough.
