what is the purpose of Buffer in any titration?Ex:In
determination of hardness of water we use ammonia
ammoniachloride buffer in titration with EDTA.Why?
Answer Posted / dinesh.m
use of the buffer is maintain the PH of the solution.........
Ex: Cyanodiole-HBr analysis in hplc v have use 3PH buffer solution as a mobile phase........
SUB:hard water means water having MgCl & CaCO3 r CaCl2
but v have use the ammonia buffer in titration with EDTA is complex formation.............
first we have add ammonia buffer to hard water MgCl2 is form the complex with NH3Cl as metal complex............After addition of EDTA. EDTA replaces the NH3 After completion of reaction the solution libarates EDT Acetate. This acetate react with E.Block-T give end point..............
