A lorry averages 55mph for the first 4 hours of a trip and
averages 70 mph for each additional hour. The average
speed for entire trip was 60 mph. How many hours long is
the trip?
a)14 b)12 c)11 d)8 e)6

answer is 6 hours and 360 miles
55*4 = 220 miles
and as the average speed is 60 then the total distance
should be multiple of 60 only
each additional hour has a average of 70 means we will add
70 in 220 till multiple of 60 is not coming
then 220+70 = 290/6 =48.3 not multiple
then 220+70+70 = 360/6 = 60 multiple
means total distance is of 360 kms and by average speed of
60 it will consume 360/60 = 6 hours
