Question { Infosys, 149183 }

tell me quantitys of matal, sand and cement in 1:4:8 and
1:2:4

Answer

If you are considering 1:4:8; per each cubic meter you have
to arrive the quantities as under.
If 1+4+8= 1cum (dry mix); then
cement quantity will be 1/13 = 0.077 cum;(2.2 Bags of 50kg)
Sand Quantity will be 4/13= 0.31 cum and
the Quantity of Coarse aggregate shall be 8/13=0.62 cum.

But, the volume of dry concrete will be 1.5 times
(approx)the volume of wet concrete. So, if you want to
prepare a cum of wet concrete, multiply the above values by 1.5.

Question { MSEB, 51206 }

How to calculate cement required for m20,m5 grade

Answer

While designing the mix, we shall take various paramenters
such as; workability, exposure, quality control etc., into
cognizance. If we consider the workability as 0.8, exposure
is moderate, QC as good, FA is in Zone-III, then quantum of
Cement required for 1cum of M20 concrete is; 53Gr OPC-465
kg, CA-1184.82 kg,FA-495.77 kg and water 186 lt.

Question { 4553 }

how to start basic designing in structure..procedure to knw
basic start to do structural designs in civil field?

Answer

It may not be correct to design a structure without having
thorough idea about the behavior of each element in a
structure. Unless we know about various kinds of loads acts
on a structure, transfer of such loads to ground, the
behaviour of natural ground based on its bearing capacity
etc., designing shall not be resorted to. It may lead to a
sudden failure. IS codes will give guidelines. But, their
application shall be made so judiciously.
Books such as Practical designing of RCC structures will
give good guidance in this matter.

Question { IVRCL, 23343 }

What is the difference between EPC,DBOOT and BOOT.

Answer

In the EPC system, funds will be provided by the client
based on the client's estimation.The contractor has to
execute the project as per the scope of the client. In the
BOOT, the funds shall be of contractor's and based on
project viability, the contractor can collect fee from the
users for a specified period to get back his funds.
Wherein, the designs will be specified by the client. In
the DBOOT, contactor can do value engineering based on the
scope of the project and can get back his investment as in
the case of BOOT.

of 20mm stone aggregate required is 1184.82 kg for One
cubic meter of mix. Wherein Cement 53Gr OPC required is 465
kg and water required is 186 Lts. Here the FA shall confirm

Question { Construction, 65587 }

what is the difference between np2, np3 & np4 rcc pipes

Answer

The classification is made based on the longitudinal and
spiral reinforcement and based on the three edge bearing
test loads. Also it depends on the reinforcement provided in
socket of pipes for rubber ring joint.
NP-1 Class pipes are unreinforced concrete, non pressure
pipes. These are used for drainage and irrigation use above
Ground level or in shallow trenches.
NP-2 class are reinforced concrete pipes, light duty and non
pressure pipes.
NP-3 class are Medium duty non-pressure pipes used for
drainage and irrigation use, for culverts carrying medium
traffic.
NP-4 class are Heavy duty, reinforced concrete pipes.Used
for drainage, Irrigation, culverts with heavy traffic and
are suitable even for Railway loading.
