Question { Bhel, 13543 }

what pressure transmitter?

Answer

Pressure Transmitter is a device which sense the Pressure (mechanical force) and convert it to electrical signal due to biasing it with 24V dc. And also transmit this signal in Current signals to our contol room.
Only transduction (mechanical to electrical) is not enough to meet a definition of TRANSMITTER.

Question { HZL, 10615 }

how many types 0f thermocouples?

Answer

these are the types of thermocouples.
1. K type. (chromal/alumal) upto 1150c
2. J type. (iron/constantun) upto 1300c
3. R type. (platinium/13%platinium,aradium) upto 1700c
4. S type. (platinium/10%platinium,aradium) upto 1700c
5. B type.
6. E type.

Question { 4623 }

what is the input of conductivity sensor and meter during
the calibration time and what is the output?

Answer

as sachin wrote 4-20mA
but it is only output of coductivity xmtr.
during calibration of conductivity xmtr its I/P is
resistance (according to its range) which is given by
resistance box.
for example Range is 0- 10 uSIMENS
display------ I/P ---------------------- O/P
0 uSIMENS.= maximum R means infinity = 4mA
2.5 uSIMENS.= 750 Ohms = 8mA
5.0 uSIMENS.= 500 Ohms = 12mA
7.5 uSIMENS.= 250 Ohms = 16mA
10 uSIMENS.= 0 Ohms = 20mA
it is for example only but in practical there is non linear
i/p resistance which will be required to get o/p according
to range
and O/P is 4-20mAs which is shown in the unit of uSIMENS.

Question { 45391 }

whats the working principle of level transmeter?

Answer

i think he is asking about principles to measure level by different methods which are,
1. by dp xmtr based on dp principle in case of steam drum or closed tank level.
2. by the principle of head static pressure in case of open tank system.
3. by Archimedes principle which uses buoyant force etc
and others are their helping systems like displacement type level xtmr which using Archimedes principle actually,
and capactive reactance which is using in to measure pressure on the diaphragm actually of DP xtmr not for level measurement.

Question { Ramco, 16664 }

compare the thermocouple and pyrometer,which one is the best?why?

Answer

each has its own value.
Because pyrometer is used where t/c can not be used.and pyrometer can not take place of t/c.
pyrometer is used to measure the temperature measurment is done without contact or contact can be harmful like in foundries operations as anealing, tempering and melting etc,
there temperature range is higher than t/c range.
T/C is used in process industries commonly to measure temperature.where pyrometer cannot be used.

Question { 13463 }

what is IPS (instrument protective system)?

Answer

I think it is the system to protect the instruments from ambiant harms like dust, water, humidity, temperature etc which is called INGRESS PROTECTION (IP)in now days and was called previously.Every instrument has its protection standard from its factory manufacturer according to its usage area like in open atmosphere, acidic or chemical environment or poring water area. It is the safety of electrical electronically parts of instruments.

Question { 5169 }

for indiacation of turbine(china) bearing temperature what
type of sensor will be used(i.e. rtd or thermocouple or
themister ) ? why it is ? i need clear explanation ?

Answer

we use RTDs to measure the bearing temp of turbine because maximum temperature of turbine bearing reaches 120 C. and RTDs are better to measure that low range of temperature than a thermocouple. not due to vibration. But in GT V94.2 siemens we are using T/Cs instead of RTDs and its bearing temperature protection is 120C.

Question { Siemens, 7152 }

define SIMULATION a and what is the need of it

Answer

simulation means (The act of giving a false appearance of input or signal)
to our system so that we can check our loop, response of relative outputs, to bypass the protection,
For example
1.to check smoke, heat detectors response we apply magnet to activate its relay to energize a false fire signal to system.
2.to check our loop during commissioning we apply mAs and get values in CCR.
3.whenever such situation has to face that an erratic signal persisting protection and machine cannot start so we can apply necessary pulse to our logic and start our machine.

Question { 5369 }

how u meassure room temp?is it possible 2 meassure room
temp by rtd or thermocouple?between rtd n thrmocouple which
is more regard?3 meassure diff. between rtd n thermocouple?

Answer

yeah you can measure the room temp with RTD
but mostly thermometers are used for room temp.
thermocouple are higher range.........
