Answer / rashmi

7 females and 6 males

We are sure that A and L are males.Similarly M and H are
females.(Since the question states so)

Now assume E is a female .Then D is a female and so are C
and G.This leads to a conclusion that all others are
males. Then the number of males becomes more than females.

Now assume E is a male.Then D is a male and so are C and G.
Then B,I,J,K,F are females,

Thus number of females is 7,males is 6.

Answer / guest

There are 7 females and 6 males.

Assume that there are four sexes - male, female, X and Y.
Prepare the following tree based on the data given :

sister

L(m) - H(f) -------------------- M(f) - A(m)

E(x) - I(y) D(x) B(y) - C(x)

J(y) K(y) F(y) G(x)

It is clear that there are altogether 13 persons - 2 males,
2 females, 4 Xs and 5 Ys.

It is given that there are more number of females than male.
Hence, all Y must represent female. Thus, there are 7
females and 6 males.

On the shelf you have 10 identical bottles of identical pills (let?s say there?s a hundred pills in each bottle). However, one of those 10 bottles contains cheap knockoff pills. The only way to differentiate fake pills from real pills is the weight - while real pills weigh 1 g each, the knockoff pills are only 0.9 g. You have one scale that shows the exact weight (down to the mg) of whatever is weighed. How can you tell which bottle contains fake pills with just 1 weighing?
