Answer / aravind k
Intitally take 100 , 20% of 100 gives 80
25% of 80 gives 60
10% of 60 gives 54.
therefore 100 -54=46.
46 might be the answer.

Answer / parameshwar appi
net discount=a+b-(ab/100)
answer is 46
20 and 25 net discount is 20+25-(25*20/100)=40
similarly 40 and 10 is 40+10-(40*10/100)=46%

Answer / isha trivedi
100-20=80
100-25=75
100-90=90
now assume that the discount is given out of 100
so 80*75*90/100*100*100=0.54
so the one equivalent discount will be 1-0.54=0.46x100=46%

Answer / uday
let the value of the product be =x
after 20%discount the value becomes=x-(.2x)=.8x
now 25%discount on this value is given by=(.8x)(1-.25)
another 10%discount gives the cost as =(.8x)(1-.25)(1-.10) so the final cost is .54x
hence discount =1-.54=.46
that is 46% discount

Answer / ranjit kumar
formula for successive discount
(a+b)-(ab/100)
for 20% and 25% (20+25)-(20*25/100)=45-5=40%
similarly for 40% 10% (40+10)-(40*10/100)=50-4=46%
Hence Ans is D) 46%

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus: An old lady who looks as if she is about to die. An old friend who once saved your life. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about. Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car? This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. * You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; * or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to ! pay him back. * However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.
