while tcp/ip is a vertical approach.

Osi is a reference model and tcp/ip is the implementation of osi model.
in osi all the layers are dependent on previous layers but in tcp/ip all the layers are independent.

In OSI reference model, there are seven layers which are
Application layer, Presentation layer, Session layer,
Transport layer, Network layer, Datalink Layer, and
Physical layer. It is detailed model for the transfer of
information from one destination from other. While the TCP/
IP suite was somewhat compact, it was not as detailed.

OSI model was never implemented. to implement in real
life it is converted into tcp ip model. this was the major
difference that TCPIP was implemented and OSI was not
implemented.
