Actually the thing is that when polychromatic IR radiation may comes into contact of substance, the moleule get energy by absorption process, shows stretching and bending in its bond. When they emitted this polycromatic radiation which have number of specfic frequency wavelengths. The mathematical expression used for transform this polycromatic to its significant presentable data is called fourier transform.
