Difference Between End Cap HPLC Column and Non End Cap Column
Answer Posted / samar mandal
In end capped column the no of free silanol groups are very less compared to non end capped column.A capping reagent like Cl(CH3)2SiCH3 is used to bond with the sillica bed apart from C8 and C18 group, which eventually block the free silanol group by forming silyl ether(-Si-O-Si-), which decreases the reaction between analyte and free silanol groups.
