explain why tap changer is always connected to high voltage
winding side of the transformer.
Answer Posted / asad
It is difficult to tap the l.v winding since it is placed near to the core due to insulation consideration. it is easy to tap the h.v winding because it is outside the l.v winding, easily accessible and therefore can be tapped easily
Tap changers on the h.v side carry low current though more insulation have to be provided.

An 8 pole, 50 Hz, 3-phase IM is loaded to a poing where pull out torque will occur. The rotor resistance per phase is 0.3 ohm and motor stalls at 650 rpm. The rotor reactance at stand still is A 2 ohm B 1.25 ohm C 3.15 ohm D 2.25 ohm
Stator of 3-phase IM has 3 slots per pole per phase. If supply frequency is 50 Hz, calculate the speed of rotating stator flux A 1000 rpm B 500 rpm C 1500 rpm D 1440 rpm
