A rapid and simple method to measure total viable bacterial
counts are done using flow cytometry (FCM) and fluorescent
dyes in pureculture systems. Fluorescent dyes SYTO 63 and
TO-PRO 3 were the most suitable for the delineation of
total bacterial counts and dead bacterial counts,
respectively, and stained bacteria were counted by FCM.
