nature of compound and how it will work explain in brief?

1.if compound is polar select midpolar or towards the
nonpolar column e.g. C18 is midpolar column which is used.
2.if compound is nonpolar select polar stationary phase
e.g. silica column
3.look for the nature of compound whether it is ionisable
or non-ionisable
