Conformation refers to the spatial arrangement of
substituent groups that are free to assume different
positions in space without breaking any bonds because of
freedom of bond rotation.
configuration denotes spatial arrangement of organic
molecule that is conferred by presence of double bonds
around which there is no freedom of rotation.
