We see the sun before it rises above the horizon in the
morning. Why?

Due to a small effect of atmospheric refraction we see the
sun about 2 minutes before it actually rises above the
horizon in the morning. Due to the same effect, we see the
sun for about 2 minutes after it has actually set i.e. gone
down below the horizon
