I am also same background(Btech) as yours. I feel its better
to have a glance on our curriculum and i feel they wont
touch much on banking related terms. But its better to
prepare some basic terminology.. What do you say..?

Hello All,

I just gave my interview in Mumbai. The questions asked were
simple (for almost everyone today).

My interview:
When did you pass out from college?
A --In 2008

So what have you been doing? Where are you currently?

What is your job profile, what are your tasks?

So you say you have knowledge about banking?
A --Sir, actually, I am interested in this field because of
my current project at job. But basically, I'm into marketing.

What are the different types of banks that are established
in the country?
A --Privatised, Nationalised, Industry Development.. (this
was my answer, find the correct one :D yourselves)

So under which category Syndicate Bank comes under?

Ok anyway, which is the largest bank in India?

Which is the second largest bank in India?

Ok so tell me why do you want to join with Syndicate when
your qualifications are technically oriented?
((this is a very important question, especially for
BE/B.Tech students. So prepare this well))

But, dont you think your knowledge and whatever you have
learnt will get wasted?
((another good question. prepare a good answer for this as
well))
----

So are you willing to relocate anywhere in India?
((you know the obvious answer. but prepare a sound reason
for your answer too ;) ))

Few personal questions....

Are you aware of FaceBook? ((they asked me this probably
since i'm a BTech CSE grad. So answers relating to social
networking followed by few more questions of the like))

My perception of this whole process:
1. In my opinion, the interview was quite simple. But, I
don't know if all PO interviews are like this. So can't
comment any further. But all I can say is to be prepared as
much as possible.

2. As I read somewhere above, "You need to have the ability
to GUIDE your interview well - naturally - into the
direction you want to".

3. Personal/HR type Questions would mostly be related to
you/your job/your qualifications. So prepare yourselves with
that.

4. Maybe the interviews were relatively simple because they
directly shortlisted us and called for final the interviews.
So I'm not sure if this would be applicable for all years.

So in short - BE PREPARED!!

And others, please do share your experiences as well :)

My panel consist of 4 persons .

interviewer : gud mrng.. whats ur gud name..

me:Mani from bangalore

interviewer : ohh from bangalore .. u have mentioned ur
home state as TN

me: i am currently as an pro eng in wipro tech at bangalore

interview:Wipro! it a big company

me : s sir with a sheepish smile

interviewer: so what s ur current pay?

me: answered

interviewere: do u know how much u get as an po here?

me : s sir.. around 17

interviewer: so still u want to work here.

me : s sir and gave him some reasons

interviewer 2: so what ur job there..

me: i am a QA and my client s ITV- media compnay in uk

interviewer 2: so actually what u do for them

me : explained him the process..

interviewer 2: so u have been as a QA for 2 yrs

me: s sir

int..2: whom do u think is better placed one a developer
or QA??????( this was an intresting one )

me: answered them

int .. 3: what makes u to shift from wipro to syndicate bank
( this s expected from them)

me:: explained them properly as i had prepared well for
this!!!

int..3:how is job security in wipro

me: blah blah!!!

int .. 3: u have been in s/w for yrs how we would be
benifited by recruiting u? ( as expected!!!!)

me:explained them ( Guys don try to say anything
technical..like my server knowledge or db admin will help
the bank.. they simply put a bomb saying that its enough if
u know to switch on/off a comp ... it had happened to my
friend!!!)

int ..4 : r u willing to reallocate anywhere ???

me: yes mam.. i don't have any issues

int.. 4: it can be even a rural area

me: i am willing to move mam..

int..4: ok.. thanks for the time...

me: thanked them and came out...



Guys i had prepared a lot of banking related questions ..
around 3 complete notes!!!! but not even a single banking
related question from them..I am afraid how they r going to
make the final list..



Overall it was an nice and a relaxed interview!!! now its
gonna be a long wait for me!!!!!!!!!!

IMO our qualification marks do help. Thats what i read
somewhere here in AllInterview.com

And yes, interview will also matter (maybe), again IMO, for
shortlisting.
like maybe the person who f*cks up even once is goooone!! :((

My doubt is that it is mentioned that there will not be any written exam for syndicate bank POs... candidates will be called for interviews based on their aggregate percentages... I know I'm eligible for applying... But I want to know if I will be called for interview as I have an aggregate of 72% in my Btech... Currently Im working as a software engineer trainee... Any statistics of minimum % called for interviews?
