take the ages one year back as 6X and 7X
at present their ages are 6X+1 and 7X+1
after 4 years from now their ages will be 6X+5 and 7X+5
then (6X+5)/(7X+5)=7/8
=> 48X+40=49X+35
=> X=5
now sachin's age is 7x5+1=36

Let Gaurav's and Sachin's ages one year ago be 6x and 7x years respectively. Then, Gaurav's age
4 years hence = (6x + 1) + 4 = (6x + 5) years.
Sachin's age 4 years hence = (7x + 1) + 4 = (7x + 5) years.
6x+5 = 7  8(6x+5) = 7 (7x + 5)  48x + 40 = 49x + 35  x = 5.
7x+5 8
Hence, Sachin's present age = (7x + 1) = 36 years.

After four years ( (take that -1 year ago)+ 3 years = 4 years )
Their ages = 7:8
Let,
(6x+4) ÷ (7x+4) = 7÷8
(Cross multiplied)
6x ×8 =48x , 4×8=32
7x ×7=49x, 4×7=28
Let's take,
48x + 32 = 49x + 28
49 x - 48 x = 32-28
1x =4

Then sachin's age is now,

4 × 8 =32
