What is the drawback of wep?
Answer / Indra Vikram Maurya
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) has several drawbacks that make it vulnerable to attacks:
1. Weak encryption: WEP uses RC4 for encryption, which has been shown to have fundamental weaknesses.
2. Fixed keys: In many implementations, keys are static and easy to guess or crack.
3. IV reuse: Initialization Vectors (IVs) in WEP are often reused, making it easier to detect patterns and crack the encryption.
4. Short key length: Early versions of WEP use 64-bit or 104-bit keys, which are relatively short compared to modern standards.
5. Lack of authentication: WEP does not provide strong authentication; an attacker can easily impersonate another device.
