When a switch receives packets with the same MAC address but different VLAN tags, it routes the packets to the appropriate VLAN based on the VLAN tag. In other words, even though the source and destination MAC addresses are the same, the switch knows which VLAN to deliver the packet to thanks to the VLAN tag.
