The concerned person is holding 25% of share i.e 1/4
for the simple understanding
he sold 1/2 of 25% so the left over is 12.5%
he holds jst 12.5% in the present year and sells 5/12 out
the 12.5% of the share holding i.e
5/12 = .417
=12.5*.417
=5.20
So he s holding 5.2% of share!!!!

A man having 25% of equity capital that means 1/4.
he sold 1/2 of the 25%. That means (1/2)*(1/4)=1/8.
Remaining equity share is (1/4)-(1/8)=1/8.
Next year he spent 5/12 of the remaining. That is
(5/12)*(1/8)=5/96.
Remaining equity is (1/8)-(5/96)= 7/96 .
So 7/96 is the answer for this question.

let his holding be =x.
holding remaining after he sells 1/2 last yr =x/2.
holding remaining after he sells 5/12 this yr =x/2 * 5/12.
=5x/24.
when he holds 'x' his % =25
when he holds '1' his % =25/x
when he holds '5x/24' his % =25/x * 5x/24
=125/24
~ 5%
