why we use post insulators in no ofstacks at substation for
supporting equipment ? why we not use single post insulator
Answer Posted / rahul singh
In order to increase its creepage distance so that
recommended phase to ground clearance can be attained. Also
the helical shape/edges are provided in stacks to avoid the
accumulation of water in case of rainfall & mechanical
strength also increases in this design.
For 220kv Post Insultors - Creepage distance= 6125mm
For 132kv Post Insulators- Creepage distance= 3625mm
For 33kv Post Insulators- Creepage distance= 900mm
Thank you.
