have recently had disc removed from neck and lost the use
of 3 fingers of left hand my physio has told me that i have
to stretch my nerves to get them working again is this
correct because i have been told its nonsense
Answer Posted / hari
he might have asked u to stretch your finger muscles to
prevent contracture. no physio's will advice to stretch
nerves. nerves are sensitive structures, it should be
treated by a physio who is well trained and knowledged in
Neural mobilization technique. So he might asked u to
stretch ur muscles. whether ur fingers working or not, u
should stretch ur muscles to prevent contracture. meanwhile
u can try electric stimulation, facilitation techniques,
biofeedback methods to gain normal functioning. Without
knowing your clinical condition, i cant assure that u wil
regain normal functioning of your fingers. eventhough just
consult with a physio and let him examine u then decide.
Hope u will recover soon
