should legislation make changes in section-304 ipc(dowry
death)
Answer Posted / anukool
First of all, if the woman dies an unnatural (within 7 years
of marriage) death then the burden of proof has been placed
on the accused to prove that the death was natural, this is
O.K., also the punishment should be made commensurate to the
crime and death sentence should be awarded to the culprits
as this inhuman practice cannot be allowed in a civilised
society. So change is required but to the effect that the
punishment must be made harsher.
