This question may have two answers:
1. If you got to know this university through a seminar,
then: "I chose this university because me and my parents,
who met Mr./Mrs. so-and-so in a seminar for (name of the
school you're going to), who was the International
Admissions Officer, were pretty much convinced about the
university, and found that it had a nice course structure,
a good on-campus atmosphere, a qualified faculty, and extra-
curricular activities apart from the routine academics, and
the fees were moderate too (even if they weren't, and
somehow if you are able to show adequate funds, state this
line!). Thus, this university. ((Be ready to let him/her
know about your course structure, name of the faculty
[yes!], extra curricular activities etc. in case he/she
asks) These may all be got in the brochure/book of a
particular university. Though they aren't freq. available
in the market, you should drop down by an agency and go
through the free counselling once and demand the book of a
particular university that you are interested in (wink))
The other way, that is if you are doing it through an
agency or if you are applying all by yourself, I'm sorry,
but I don't have answers for them. Anyway you can use the
seminar answer whether or not you attended one.
And because I am given much space here, let me also quote
that no matter whatever your intentions, the visa officer
HAS to be convinced that you are returning. So, when you
prepare, make sure you have a pen and paper in hand, and,
plot down the I-know-everything background. What I mean is
that just do a good homework on those things that you are
going to answer! Try to guess what the consequential
question might be to a particular answer that you are
giving! A good homework (particularly the knowledge about
the college and the course you are taking), talking to
yourself in front of the mirror to command your expressions
and a mock in front of a man of knowledge should be the
steps in which success should be acheived before you
finally get down to the D-Day! All The Best!

I mr videsh reddy mandala.I had complete be in b/w july 2001/05.My home town is hyderabad.Actually the thing is I had applied for F1 visa in bombay on nov2006 and I was redirected to chennai.There in chennai I was rejected. Next I had applied in chennai on nov 2006 again I was rejected due to un able to explain about the projects.Now due to no dates in chennai I am applying to delhi 17nth of this month.Willl it be any problem regarding on this.....plz help me....
1.why you select this university ?? 2.what is the california or (xyz) university ?? 3.how many university have u applied ?? 4.why you select this university ?? 5.what about other university ?? 6.what was your grad ?? 7.who is sponsoring you ?? 8.what is your financial background ?? 9.how will you survive over there ?? This 9 questions are important for any F1 visa.But 1 question is also important that is ask rarely 10.what is your GRE/GMAT score ?? OK Best of luck to all F1 students. hi am harry and i have a doubt regarding visa .my gre score is 1120 and my toefl is 85 and ma academic background is 60% of average with 17 backlogs.the problem is will they reject me for having 17 backlogs ?? am really worried cause i was not knowing all these things b4 i applied.i came to know this today from my senior who had only 4 backlogs and he got rejected two times will i get rejected ?? and if not how should i handle this when they ask plss anyone help me its my life i worked hard to get into this realizing my future
I’m waiting for my final SEM result for BE in Information Technology. I’m intending to carry on with my studies in master in CSE or IT in United States. I’ve two years of backlog one in first year of Diploma and second in First year (SECOND YEAR OF ENGG. Since diploma) of engineering. After diploma I was in some other university, but since I got a year drop I changed my university since I was finding it difficult to get adjusted and hence changed my university. Now, I’m about to complete my graduation but have a very low aggregate percentage with couple of DEAD ATKT. Now, will this affect my chances of getting admission in top 20 or 30 university of US even after passing GRE and TOFEL with high numbers or Even if I get admission will I be rejected in VISA interview or getting a job experience of 2 years along with couple of certifications, help me in any form which will increase my chances of getting admissions and also clearing VISA interview. I got 3 rejection 2 in july & one in aug all 3 times i went 4 NYIT for pursuing my Master in computer science. I have applied for a F1 VISA & I had appointments on 19th july and 2nd August but both times my VISA has been rejected due to unknown reasons I'm posting my conversation with VO both times 1st appointment 19 July Me: Good morning sir. VO: Hi. VO: Why do you want to go to IIT? Me: This institute provides one of the best courses in Mechanical Engineering. It has very good study atmosphere especially the faculty that is highly qualified. Most importantly It has very good student to faculty ratio ie. 10:1 that is highly favorable for student’s studies. VO: Which other universities have you applied to? Me: I have applied to Purdue, USC….( I was telling about other 2 universities also, but he interrupted) VO: Why not Purdue? Me: Coz I’ve got a rejection from there. VO: And what about USC? Me: I’ve got rejected there too. Also, I’ve applied to 2 other universities whose decisions are still awaited they are SUNY Buffallo and Texas A&M. VO: What are your qualifications? Me: I’ve done Civil Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia University. VO: Can I see your marksheets please? Me: Sure ( I gave him my neatly clipped marksheet bundle..) VO: Do you have any backlogs? Me: The courses required for MS in mechanical Engineering at IIT are very much related to what have i done in my undergrads, there are subjects like thermodynamics, engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials that i've already studied, so definitely it will be a plus point and also its faculty is very good and student to faculty ratio is 10:1 that is highly favorable. VO: R u working somewhere? Me: Yes, I'm working in Vimtech infrastructure pvt ltd as a technical supervisor. VO: What is your percentage? Me: Sir we have a grading system in our university and different weightage is assigned to each grade and weighted mean is calculated that is called as CPI ie cumulative percentage index and i've a cpi 6.3/10. VO: That is a quite low. Me: No sir, there is a formula given at the back of marksheet which calculates my %age as 64.2 VO: Show me your marksheets. Me: Sure VO: Do u have any backlogs? Me: No, Sir VO: You have a lot of C grades.(He returned my documents back and said) VO: You need to prove that u r a credible student. GRE: 1330( Q770;V560) TOEFL 96 University: Illinois Institute Of Technology There's one more thing that i need to tell u that i have got around 16 backlogs in my undergrads, but i've cleared them all and they are not reflected in my marksheets but the year mentioned in my marksheets is of when i clear all papers of a particular semester. Can it be a problem? What should i do now ? should i reapply for a US VISA as my joining date as per my I20 is 23 August. Kindly suggest me something
Last time On 21st July i was rejected bcz of this Q : Why do u Want to go For again bech.....In Real I have completed Bca and I applied For Computer science as a Transfer Student bcz i applied b4 my ty completion and i done WES report of bca fy n sy..so i got merit credit n 3000$ scholarship from SEMO university which is listed in my I20..My consultant suggest me for CS course..bcz i have not given Gmat or gre...I got 5.5 BANDS in IELTS....so wat i have to tell to officer if again Q will arise...How can i convince them?
