we convert 66kv to 33 kv to 11kv to 440v. why can't we
directly convert 33kv to 440 ?

Answer Posted / k.prakashchandra

440 V supply is for domestic and small industries located at
various places. With 400 V, the lines may extended to max 1
KM considering voltage drop and line losses.33 KV/433V s/s
requires circuit breakers and larger area. Hence can not
erected inside towns along the roads or underground. It is
economical and easier to have 11 KV sub-transmission lines
and 11KV/ 440 V s/s for public utility.
