WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF VECTOR GROUPS IN TRANSFORMER?
WHAT WILL BE EFFECT WHEN PHASE DISPLACEMENT CHANGES IN
TRANSFORMER?
Answer Posted / sunil ulange hit nidasoshi
Vector Groups are made especially to make out difference in
the connections. The connection can be delta(D) or star(Y)
The primary winding connection always denoted by Capital
Letter (D), and secondary winding connection always denoted
as small letter (y), and neutral n
The number after that indicates the phase difference
between the primary and the secondary voltage.
e.g.-> DYn11 means transformer is star connected with
secondary voltage leading the delta connected primary
voltage by 30 degrees.
normally distribution transformers are have Dyn11 connection
because secondary of transformer are connected to at user
end means motors,inductive load etc,
These loads always havelagging Power factor thatswhy Dyn11
connected transformer means secondary volatage leads by
primry voltage by 30 degrees, hence Power factor maintened
constant.
In Clock 11 indicates angle between 12 & 11 is 30 degrees
i.e. 360/12=30 degree

i have a 4 Mva transformer 34.5 kv / 480-277 v and i used 2 parallel 3200 amp bus duct for the secondary feeder using 3 ply of bus bar ( 3/8" x 5" ) as a common where the flexible link terminated and 6300 amps breaker for the main, the lower bus duct reaches 70 degrees and the upper bus duct reaches 55 degrees when i used thermal scanner. why the temperature is not balance when the load reaches 3600 amps.

I have a small system with two motors that are running on 380 vac, 60 hz. These motors are expensive and I usally get them from Brazil. I am adding another motor to the system, but I want to purchase a 480 vac, 60 hz motor to use. It will be on a VFD that is rated fro 380 thru 480. Is this posible and will I have to use a larger motor and derate it?

When we use air circuit breaker, it has O/L protection ,time delay SC protection, Instataneous SC protection & ground fault protection. They all have some setting range. But what is the suitable/allowable setting for the above protection which will be safe for the equipment? For example-O/L protection setting have a range of (0.4,0.45,0.5,0.55,0.6,0.65,0.7,0.8,0.9,1.0)xIn Time delay SC protection have a range of (1.25,1.5,2,3,4,6,8,10,12)xIn Time delay setting is 0.02,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4 Instataneous setting is fixed to 20xIn Gound fault setting is given 100A,300A,600A,900A,1200A This setting are for 2500A ACB. So what will be the basic allowable setting for the above protection? is there any formulae to calculate this<
