the ratio of amount of carbon to amoumt of nitrogen present
in any substance is refered as C/N ratio.it is used for
predicting the rate of decomposition. lower the nitrogen
content or wider C/N ratio slower is decaying process.
average C/N ratio of indian soil is 14:1. in humus it is
10:1. in plant it is 20-30:1. in saw dust it is 400:1. in
microbes it is 4-9:1.
