A project leader should understand and establish the following to handle a project single handedly:

1. Cordial relationship with project sponsor (primary contact on the client side).
2. Changes anticipated on the team structure.
3. Technical know-how required by the team to complete initial iteration (phase).
4. Make sure the new project is going to contribute positively to the organization goal.

So, the roles anticipated for these four objectives are as follows: Business Analysis, HR Management, Technical Leadership, Project Management.
