rated transformer o/p is limited by heating and hence by the losses in transformer.mainly two type of losses occur in transformer iron loss and copper loss.iron loss depend on voltage and cu loss on current(amp)and these are almost unaffected by load pf so rating of transformer expp.in kva,va rather than kw.
w=v*i*cos(angle) in case of AC.
w=v*i in case of DC

We have a distribution transformer of 750KVA/11kv/440v and an AVR (Servo Stabilizer) of 750KVA on the LT side of distribution transformer. at work we have a 3 phase motor but on testing one phase isnt getting a reading. it runs 24 hours a day all week. stops and starts well no noise or heating. the phase isnt down to earth.is it just a bad meter reading or not? phases one and three came up with a resistance reading of 0.4 but phase 2 couldnt get anything shows up as open circuit.
