3 Support:-The main stem acts as a sort of pillar supporting
the branches which spread in all directions
4 Storage:- The stem serves as a storehouse of food material
5 Food manufacture:- The young shoot when green in color
manufactures food in the present of sunlight with the help
of chloroplast present in it
