VSS is short term used for calling Visual SourceSafe. It is
a kind of central repository maintained to effective
functioning of the project.
Microsoft version 6.0c (VSS) is the most simple and dynamic
source code management tool. Developers can efficiently
maintain and control the version using vss. Testers can also
fetch the build and quality can be tested for the same.
Checkin and Checkout are the two major functions, which
helps in tracking the dates and time of the package created
and given for testing. Also VSS provides Search
functionality to its users for seraching the files.
In a project, VSS controller is called as the configuration
manager. Configuration Management gives the permission for
folders, files etc for accessing the read and write mode,
and rights to add, delete and read files.
