I have installed capacitor bank at secondary transformer.
cos phi is increase. but on load (far from transormer), it
still poor. Can anybody explain it??

Since the reactive power compensation (capacitor) is
provided on the LT side of the transformer, the
compensation will take place upstream from the point of
connection. Between the point of connection and the Load,
the reactive power still remains uncompensated. Hence, in
case the loads are not very small and vastly distributed in
the network, it is better to provide reactive compensation
at the load end itself. The only disadvantage is that
there should be arrangement to switch off these capacitors
when loads are not ON, otherwise, the capacitors themselves
would act as loads!
