When a bicycle is in motion, the force of friction exerted
by the ground on the two wheels is such that it acts
a) In the backward direction on the front wheel and in the
forward direction on the rear wheel.
(b) In the forward direction on the front wheel and in the
backward direction on the rear wheel.

I think answer is A, b'couse inthe case of rare wheel we r
appling a force via gear- chain system which try to rotare
the the wheel in forwrd direction and hence initial
sleeping tendency of point of contact of the rare wheel is
in backward direction and hence friction is in forward
direction. but in the case of front wheel, it is pushed by
the rare wheel so sleeping tendency is in forward direction
and hence friction is in backward direction.

when bicyle moves, both wheels rotates in backwards darection
and friction force is always in opposite direction of force
so friction in both wheels is in forward direction
