Reasons for Failure of Muslim League
· First major elections
· Image problem – as though Muslim League was only composed
of aristocrats
· Not popular among masses including Muslim majority areas
as they were not threatened by Hindu Domination
· Poor organization and planning
· Differences and rifts within the party itself
Importance
· Source of experience for League for later elections
· Helped to unify the party
· Realized that it had to improve its organization and planning
· Realized that their main support lies in Muslim minority
areas – so they worked to get support of Muslim majority
areas as well
· Realized the image problem.

The major causes of Muslim Leagues's failure in the 1937 general Elections are as follows:
1. Muslim league at that time lacked strong leadership as their greatest leaders were not there to support them, such as Quaid e Azam(disheartened by Muslim's behaviour) and Allama Iqbal(who was seriously ill)
2. Muslim league lacked support at ground level as it was not so much popular at that time among locals even Muslims.
3. Their was an air of aristrocracy among the Leagues's prime leaders.
4.There was mismangement among the party, as they lacked strong insight of a leader causing them to drift aimlessly.

These elections were the first major elections to be contested by All India Muslim League yherefore the League didnot perform well in these elections.
The muslim league had an image problem. Many of its members were seen as aristocrats, princes or landlords whereas many muslims at that time were poor and illiterate.
Muslim League selected candidates who were not from general people while Congress put forward such candidates having roots in public.
The Muslim League needed to improve its organisation and required proper planning for participation in elections.
The muslims didnot realize that the hindus would dominate them. They thought that they could live peacefully under Congress rule so many of the muslims casted there votes in favour of the Congress

They had an image problem they were seen as aristocrates and princes while in realoty theu were poor an illetrate
Jinnah and allama iqbal were not present who were the major prominent leaders
They did not feel the stress or the pressure of the hindu domination and felt over confident
They were not popular and were not known by half of the population
