The three primary germ layers, or embryonic layers, are the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. The ectoderm gives rise to skin, nervous system, and sense organs; the mesoderm forms muscles, bones, and connective tissues; while the endoderm develops into internal organs such as the gut.
