What is gastrulation? How during gastrulation are the first two germ layers formed? Which are these germ layers?
Answer Posted / Satyam Tiwari
Gastrulation is a crucial developmental process in embryos of animals. It involves the rearrangement and movement of cells, leading to the formation of three primary germ layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. During gastrulation, the blastula transforms into a gastrula. The process starts with the involution of cells from the animal hemisphere (dorsal side) of the blastula, forming the primitive streak, which further develops into the mesoderm and endoderm. Meanwhile, the ectoderm remains unchanged.
