Amnion and chorion are two of the extraembryonic membranes in mammalian embryos. The amnion surrounds and protects the developing embryo, while the chorion is responsible for the exchange of nutrients, waste products, and oxygen with the mother's uterus through the placenta. The chorion also contains the fetal part of the placenta, while the amnion does not.
