Dry mass, also known as ash-free dry mass or oven-dried mass, refers to the weight of a substance after all its water content has been removed by drying it at high temperatures (usually 105°C). Dry mass is often used in ecological studies to measure the amount of organic matter in an ecosystem without considering its water content.
