Hypersensitivity reactions, also known as allergic reactions, are abnormal immune responses to normally harmless substances (allergens). There are four types of hypersensitivity reactions classified based on their symptoms and the cells involved: Type I (Immediate Hypersensitivity), Type II, Type III, and Type IV. Each type is mediated by a different group of immune cells and leads to distinct symptoms.
