What is the disadvantage of direct immuno fluorescence?

Direct immunofluorescence has limited sensitivity due to background fluorescence from unspecific binding of the fluorochrome, which may obscure weak signals. Indirect immunofluorescence addresses this issue by using a secondary antibody with a fluorochrome.
