Why is disodium salt of edta preferred to edta?

Answer Posted / Rohit Kumar Sinha

Disodium salt of EDTA (disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is often preferred over the free acid form, EDTA, due to its higher solubility in water and lower toxicity. The disodium salt is also less acidic, which reduces the risk of side reactions. Additionally, it does not require neutralization upon use.
