Why do you not collapse under the pressure created by the atmosphere?
Answer Posted / Neelesh Kumar Patel
You do not collapse under the pressure of the atmosphere due to a combination of factors, primarily your body structure and the elasticity of your lungs. The atmospheric pressure acts equally on all surfaces of an object, causing it to compress slightly but not enough to cause collapse. In addition, the elasticity of your lungs allows them to expand when you inhale, counteracting some of the external pressure.
