What is the primosome?

Answer Posted / guest

This is a complex of proteins that removes SSB proteins and
synthesizes a small section of RNA, called a primer. The 3'-
OH of the primer is required for DNA polymerase III to
start making DNA. Eventually the RNA primer is removed and
replaced by DNA. This is done by DNA polymerase I which has
both 5'-3' exonuclease and polymerase activity.
