The reproductive system of a female flower typically consists of an ovary, which contains one or more ovules (immature seeds), a style that conducts pollen tubes towards the ovule(s), and a stigma that receives pollen. After fertilization, the ovule develops into a seed, and the ovary wall thickens to form the fruit.
